My personal practice involves the Norse Pantheon deities. There are many pantheons and many deities that align with certain days and times and I encourage everyone to do that research when they have the energy.
That being said, I deep dived into the days of the week last year and developed my interpretation of how I can honor the deities that hold dominion over that day of the week. Not only does this help me feel like I'm "Doing the Thing" every day - but it took the mental load of "remembering" off of me in the moment and allowed me to make a fancy chart.
So here- we will deep dive into Sunday and how I show gratitude to my spirit team:
Day - English | Day - Norse | Deity |
Sunday | Sondag (surhn-dahg) | Sol- Goddess of the sun sister to Máni |
How does Sol help us?
She is a great protector and can aid you in becoming victorious in your endeavors. There is also a gift of healing, one she shares with her brother, and Sol has a hand in time management. This is a good deity to call upon if you want to achieve your goals, enhance your life force and feel more whole as a person. Joy and bright warm energy is the thought of the day with a dash of enthusiasm and motivation. Sol literally lights up any room she enters and can be a driving force forward in your life.
What I do:
I use tealights in my daily practice. I have two cute deer shaped tea light holders that have 4 spaces each for a candle on their antlers. One is for Monday - Wednesday - and the other is for Thursday - Sunday (Saturday has no candle).
When I have the mental space, I will pre-prep my candles on a Saturday by carving the rune of the day into their wax. It's not always pretty but its there so I can see it. Some weeks I don't have the time or energy to do that so I simply say the name of the rune when I light the tealight in the morning.
Sundays - In honor of Sol I focus on taking good care of myself. Not just "taking a bath" but actually putting time and care into my beauty regime. Taking a little extra time to care for my skin, my hair, my person as a whole. Sometimes this looks like simply remembering to drink enough water. I may journal about how the past week has gone, or just sit and think back on what I accomplished.
If I have a lot of energy - I may swap out the tealight for an orange chime candle and put citrine or sunstone around it and do a more proper honoring to Sol. I may even share some of my meal (as food waste is a concern of mine) and dance around my house with gusto.
I have set up my honoring on a scale - Low energy days - I light the tea candle and am happy with my ability to do just that! High energy days - I may go ALL out and check off all the things on my list. Days that land in the middle of my energy spectrum will be some kind of variation of this.
Below I have included what I learned from my research on Sol and that which corresponds not only to this entity but also just to the day of the week in and of itself. Use what works and leave what doesn't - but always be kind to yourself.

Ways to Honor through Action:
Go. Outside. That's it - just spend some time outside while its daytime- even if its cloudy. Do work that benefits the land or helps the environment (even if all you an do is pick up a piece of litter you found and throw it away - IT COUNTS). Do your mental wellness work - If that is shadow work, journaling, mediation, yoga, remembering to drink water and eat - it all counts.
Things not to do (Not that you would anyway):
Egregiously show disrespect for the land, the air, the environment - Intentionally cause pollution / destruction / desecration to the planet.
And Don't overdo it today. Do NOT run yourself ragged - do NOT show yourself egregious disrespect. You matter. Period.
